A BIBLICAL ANALOGY
The biblical text recounts the story of a nation
in exile. Struggling with identity issues and displacement, they
sorrowfully discard their musical instruments and long for home
(Ps. 137).
In God's timing, they did eventually return
home, with a mandate to rebuild, restore and renew the ancient
ruins of their homeland that had been desolate for many generations
(Isa. 61:4). Before the work of restoration could begin on the
Temple (church) and the walls (societal structures), a way had
to be prepared for the people to travel home. The stones had to
be removed and a highway built (Isa. 62:10).
